Reviews and More :)

Hey guys!!

So I recently read Faking Normal by Courtney Stevens.

An edgy, realistic debut novel praised by the New York Times bestselling author of Between Shades of Gray, Ruta Sepetys, as “a beautiful reminder that amid our broken pieces we can truly find ourselves.”

Alexi Littrell hasn’t told anyone what happened to her over the summer by her backyard pool. Instead, she hides in her closet, counts the slats in the air vent, and compulsively scratches the back of her neck, trying to make the outside hurt more than the inside does.

When Bodee Lennox—”the Kool-Aid Kid”—moves in with the Littrells after a family tragedy, Alexi discovers an unlikely friend in this quiet, awkward boy who has secrets of his own. As their friendship grows, Alexi gives him the strength to deal with his past, and Bodee helps her summon the courage to find her voice and speak up.

Let me just say everyone who can read should read this book!  It was AMAZING!  I don’t know how she does it, but Courtney is able to make you want to stay throughout the whole story.  From the synopsis, anyone could have a guess as to who the main love interest is.  It’s Alexi and Captain Lyric.  But who in the world is Captain Lyric, this person who seems to know exactly what song she needs that day?

I thought the plot was good too.  She threw in some twist that most readers don’t expect if they have read a lot of romance.  I had my one person that I was rooting for the whole time.  At times, I just wanted to take Alexi and yell at her to be with this guy!

Alexi and Bodee developed a ton as characters.  They relied on each other and built the other up.  I think if Bodee hadn’t of come into her life when he did, the story would have been nowhere near as interesting.

I started The Naturals by Jennifer Lynn Barnes yesterday and am in the middle of it right now.  Then I’m doing a buddy read on Goodreads on the book Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver today.

Blog Tours, Reviews

Review of The Last Thing by Briana Gaitan

Yay!!  So it is finally my day to post a review.  I have never been so excited for a blog tour in my life!! I finished this book about a week ago and thought it was amazing.

Now that I finally get to share my joy with you, here is what I have been waiting for since I got the first email from Briana.

Plagued by past mistakes in both love and life, Quinn Bardot is in a bad place. With nowhere else to turn, she escapes to LA clinging to the promise of a fresh start.

Chase Crowley is known for being selfish and unbelievably persistent. All he’s ever wanted is to become a successful actor. But now that he is about to have it all, he finds that something is still missing. Money and fame isn’t what he expected.

After a fervent encounter, the two of them are thrown into a situation that neither is prepared for. Can Quinn extinguish her fears and let Chase in? Can Chase learn to put someone else’s needs before his own?

Last Thing is a novel all about love, Hollywood, and accepting what life throws at you even if it is the last thing you want.

(This is a New Adult Romance novel & contains language & adult situations. Not recommended for readers younger than 17)

***The Last Thing is a stand alone book with NO cliff hanger ending. It is book one in the series.***

My Rating:

(Used the pink stars to match the cover)

My Review:

I really, absolutely loved this book!  There is no other way to describe it.  Most roman books are a hit and miss with me because the basic plot has been seen in so many other stories.  Briana wrote this book in such a way that I didn’t feel the need to put it down and start another one.

I really liked how all the loose ends weren’t tied off until the very end.  It made you have to finish it even if it wasn’t your favorite book.  I know for me at least, I don’t like leaving stuff unfinished or being let unsure about something.

Even the secondary characters are seen constantly throughout the book.  You get to see them develop along with Chase and Quinn.  I know that at times, for me at least, the secondary characters can be way more entertaining than the main characters.  Sometimes the author will give them their little moments to shine, and I feel like that is what Briana did.

Monday Madness

Hey peoples!!

I’m back for another post.

It’s review day and I had been trying to decide what book would be good this week.  Well, I let one of my friends borrow The Fault in our Stars by John Green, and she finished it yesterday.  She texted me saying how I was “cruel” to make her read it, but she loved it.  In her next message, she asked me what she should read next.  I looked through all the books on my bookshelves and came across one that I remembered a movie was about to come out for.  This book was great, and I knew she would enjoy it, since she liked The Fault in our Stars.  I told her it had a little bit of a happier ending but still a love starry that was just as sweet.

Can any of you guess the book?

If you guessed If I Stay by Gayle Foreman, then you would be correct.  So that’s the book I decided to go with.  If anyone reading this blog has read it, then I know you will agree with me when I say it rocks, and I can’t wait to see the movie.

So the book…

In the blink of an eye everything changes. Seventeen year-old Mia has no memory of the accident; she can only recall what happened afterwards, watching her own damaged body being taken from the wreck. Little by little she struggles to put together the pieces- to figure out what she has lost, what she has left, and the very difficult choice she must make. Heartwrenchingly beautiful, this will change the way you look at life, love, and family. Now a major motion picture starring Chloe Grace Moretz, Mia’s story will stay with you for a long, long time.

So above are some of my favorite quotes from If I Stay.  These quotes in a way, exemplify the book best.  The tell of how the main character feels in some of the most important parts.  The book stays in the main character, Mia’s, point of view.  You journey through her life and memories as she thinks about them.

The way she thinks is so different and at the same time the exact same as the reader in a way.  She is trying to understand n comprehend stuff but able to do it with more maturity than most people have at times.  She has all these choices and decisions to make and think about.  where most people would go crazy and just give up and randomly pick one, Mia is able to keep a somewhat level head ad try to understand what is happening around her.

Adam is just plain amazing.  There is no other way to describe him.  He is the guy every girl dreams of dating.  While he is popular and fun,  he is the most down to earth guy ever.  Adam will sit by himself at lunch because he choose to read a book instead of hang out with friends.  While being quite popular, he is in a band and, as you can guess, quit e hot!  He acts like a big cuddly bad boy to the people he truly knows and cares about.  How could a girl not want him?

Adam and  Mia of course hit it off!  I just love how Adam respects Mia and her choices.  He isn’t controlling and making her do stuff for him.  She is treated as an equal.  That just made my day.

While I could go on and on about this book, I must go to bed now.  Cheer practice in the morning is not fun at times…  Oh well, I love cheering though, so I can’t say anything against it.

Random Question:

If you could be the main character in any book who would you be and what is the book?
